SMOD – Malian Hip-Hop Group Performs at the Grassroots Festival (con subtítulos)
In their debut U.S. tour the group SMOD performed as part of the 2012 Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance. Check out their blend of hip-hop and traditional Malian music in this medley of clips from their performance and hear guitarist Sam Bagayoko, son of renowned Malian musical duo Amadou and Mariam, talk about the languages they sing in. SMOD’s 2010 self-titled album, produced by acclaimed Franco-Spanish musician Manu Chao, was widely popular in both Mali and France. / El grupo SMOD de Malí cuya música combina hip-hop con los ritmos tradicionales de Malí, en su estreno en los EEUU participó en el Festival de Música y Danza Grassroots .
